Port City Pits, based in Shreveport, LA, where the population is
constantly growing!
The number of bully owners in this area are also growing. If these
pets could speak English, do you think they would say, "I love to
fight. I really enjoy being bloody. If I lose the fight Kill Me!" No, I
don't think anyone or anything would say that. Would  you? The
members of this organization are true animal lovers that do not
wish to display the gameness of their pets in the manner of dog
fighting. The dogfighting has become an unethical and inhumane
thing to do with such magnificent pets. So, show your pets
gameness in an atmosphere that does not consist of fighting.
Competitions that can show the gameness of bully breeds
consists of weight pulling competitions, agility competitions,
obedience competitions, and etc.. What you teach them is what
they will do.

Article: A True Friend

Hello World,

Lover since the late 70’s.  Many of the dogs that I have owned through all of my ups and downs have brought me happiness.  As I got
gained so much knowledge about this breed through reading and studying books about the American Pit Bull Terrier.  I have also older,
I came across a pit bull, a loving and wonderful breed of dog that was out of this world (I mean in heart, body and mind).  I have gained
so much knowledge about this breed through reading and studying books about the American Pit Bull Terrier.  I have also missing to
this brilliant breed and I was wondering could the outside world help me?
Watched the heart of the breed from them loving my kids at playtime to them protecting them at sleep time, but there is still some pieces
missing to this brilliant breed and I was wondering could the outside world help me?
It has been so much bad news going on about the pit bull, but all pit bulls are not bad.  I’m speaking for the American Pit Bull owners that
call their dog’s part of the family or a family member.  Now the bully dog-fighting, which is another issue that affects the outlook of the
bully breed, which we are against, hurts our pets and us as dog owners of these wonderful bully breeds.  Every time you turn on the
news it’s the pit bull this or pit bull that but all dogs bite.  Majority of the time the biting only occurs because the dog is protecting
something or someone they consider family.  Now am I right or wrong?  For example: If a Chow-chow or Poodle only knows the
household that they live in and get out he/she will bite because they are in unfamiliar territory and feel that they have to protect
themselves.  Now is the finger pointing at us as bully owners because some of us are poor, low/middle class workers/owners with pit
bulls?  Is it because of the mishandling and neglect of bully owners? or Is it because only bully breeds bite?
The Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is laws pertaining to certain breeds of dogs which are federal, state, or local regulated.  These
legislators want to ban our dogs and make laws against us the owners.  If they ban them then What will we do?, Where will they go?, or
What will we think?  Now it they ban the pit bull then they would have to start from the origin (the beginning of the breed) the creation of
the pit bull breed with the Terriers and Bull dogs, which are considered as a breed of dogs by all major kennel clubs.  This would mean
that colleges that use them as mascots and people who have these high priced Terriers would be affected.  There are even policeman
that own pit bulls so why does the world get so upset when you talk about the pit bull breed or you own one.  This goes back to the
number one fact that all pit bulls are not bad, but they will protect their love ones and their homes just like humans will do.  That’s why I
joined this organization because they believe that no ones puppy or dog should be taken away because of the negligence of other
owners.  As bully breed owners, lovers, and enthusiasts around the world we must stick together to end this before it’s too late.  Now as
you come to the end of my article, pause and look at your puppy or bully and state:  I LOVE YOU WITH A BIG HUG because there’s noting
like a bully.
Please e-mail, write, or call us because we want to hear your thoughts and feelings about your bully and what makes your bully your
pride and joy.  We are also excepting pledges and donations to help the continuous growth of the organization.  Before closing I would
like to say thank you to all the kennels, magazines around the world and The Gazette that show the positive side of the bully breed
communities.

“Mission Statement”

We strive to strengthen the relationship between owner and bully breeds, to
improve the unfair treatment of all bully breeds, to raise community awareness
of the true nature of these magnificent pets, to improve the education of those
that acquire knowledge about the bully breeds, and to show the world how truly
wonderful, energetic, lovable, playful, intelligent, and protective these pets are.
What is a Bully Breed?

Port City Pits considers a bully
breed a pet which was bred for
fighting, baiting, and other game
situations.
Now, these same breeds are able
to show off their other physical
abilities in the way of  weight
pulling, agility,  personal
protection and quite a  few more
amazing abilities that these
wonderful animals possess. So,
get your bully involved in some
events and other socialization
situations where you as an owner
can began to control those
so-called, uncontrollable pets.

Title:   My Joy
Author:  Shamekia Mitchell

Having a dog is more than just having someone you can walk or play with.  You have a companion that loves
you no matter what.  As a companion your dog will grow with you and you with him/her as well.  As you learn them,
they also learn you.  The joy of having someone, whom you can share, things with that you might not feel
comfortable telling anyone else, is on of the best qualities of having a dog.  They never tell secrets, they
always have your back, and when you give 100% they give 110%.
head on my chest trying to cheer me up.  When she did that all my unhappy thoughts went away and it gave my joy.
To have someone who can look into your eyes and tell when something is wrong or can tell when something is
different, who guards you without you asking, whom you bath, and walk and not even think twice about picking up
their poop is all worth it.
I love what I do that's why I invest my time, effort, and love into Port City Pits.  When I found out that
there were other people out their who love there dogs and pay attention to their dogs as much as I do was such an
outreaching feeling.  I felt like if there are others that feel like me then we can truly change the way people in
the world view the bully breeds to be.  We will work hard at accomplishing our goal of giving the bully breeds a
good name.  Port City Pits is and will always a top priority in me and my family's life.  Thank you to all of the
members and visitors that help us to carry on this organization.
